CSI has been working with a coalition of groups including SEIU’s Banking Project, Working Families Party (WFP), PSN, the Center for Responsible Lending (CRL) and others on a range of state-level financial reform efforts. CSI continues to work with the coalition of groups on a range of state-level financial reform efforts, including the creation of publicly-owned state banks. As part of this effort, CSI has organized calls for policymakers from a range of states considering state banks to ask questions and compare notes with the state legislators who oversee the Bank of North Dakota. Policymakers from nine states—HI, MD, ME, MI, NM, NY, OR, VT, and WA—have attended, as well as representatives from interested state and national advocacy groups. CSI continues to work with the coalition on the state banks issue in particular, and financial reform in general.
