At the request of the Culver administration, CSI organized a one day Strategy Academy on clean energy and energy efficiency in Des Moines, Iowa. Participants from Iowa included the Governor, the Policy Director, the Chief Counsel, and other leadership from the Governor’s Office, the Directors and senior staff from Iowa’s Departments of Economic Development and Natural Resources, the Office of Energy Independence, and the Iowa Power Fund Partnership. CSI brought energy experts and practitioners from ACEEE, CNT, ELPC, the Illinois Commerce Commission, and REPP to discuss R&D and commercialization of clean technologies; state and regional climate change initiatives; energy efficiency & conservation; coal plant permitting and regulation; next steps toward developing a cellulosic ethanol industry; and transmission lines and interconnection issues.
