CSI Events

Since opening its doors in September 2007, CSI has conducted thirty-nine “policy events” involving thirty-eight states and the District of Columbia. The goal of every CSI event is the same: to provide elected state executives and their senior staff evidence-based progressive policy options on issues of concern to them.

Along with the content and rationale for these policy alternatives, CSI provides

  • hard data on their cost and benefit
  • advice on their effective messaging and implementation
  • metrics for managing and measuring their achievement of desired outcomes

Our events have covered a broad range of issues, including such diverse areas as

  • transportation
  • environmental issues
  • land use
  • housing
  • energy policy
  • infrastructure finance
  • economic and workforce development
  • regional competitiveness
  • election administration
  • work-family balance
  • health care
  • education
  • early childhood development

The format of our events varies according to the needs and desires of the participants, ranging from

  • Webinar Briefings typically involving several states
  • teleconference-based Policy Briefings of one or several states
  • on-site Strategy Academies in one state
  • regional and national Conferences

CSI staff is involved in every event, but in addition, almost all events have gained from the contribution of experts and our partnering organizations, which have provided their services for free.
