Event Summary

Our one-day academy included senior staff and key decision makers from the Governor’s Office, the state Budget Office, the Board of Regents, and relevant Iowa agencies, as well as subject matter experts from the Center for American Progress, Pew Center on the States, University of Wisconsin, and CommunicationWorks, and state practitioners from Colorado, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio to assist Iowa policymakers with the implementation of efficiency and cost savings reforms in several key areas related to Executive Order 20 signed by Governor Culver in December 2009 and Senate File 2088 signed by Governor Culver in March 2010. Sessions will be focused on three general areas of implementation:

• Enterprise-wide IT consolidation
• Institutionalizing efficiency/performance reviews in state government
• Efficiency/Performance Budgeting in higher education system
